Hospital Fun!!!

Wow... so I am finally writing the story of me in the hospital.... Here we go from beginning to end.

So, on July 24th I went on my first motorcycle ride in about 20 years with my friend Rob. After he dropped me off and went home I had a really bad cramp in my back/side... So I went to bed early and spent the rest of the night crawling back and forth between my bed and the toilet. By the time morning came I could barely move I was in so much pain. My lower back on the right side hurt so much!!! So I begged my roomie Seth to take me to the Med 7. Once there the physician thought I had appendicitis and called an ambulance to take me to Mercy San Juan. After I got checked into the hospital I spent about 45 minutes in the waiting room before going into triage. Once in triage I was diagnosed with possible liver problems. So they sent me into the intake portion of the hospital where I had blood drawn. While waiting for the results of the blood test I spiked a temperature of 103 and was finally given some pain meds. I could finally move without being in excruciating pain. (Pssst... this whole time Seth barely left my side. What a great roomie huh!)
Then the blood test came back and they said I had a crazy blood infection and my body was going into toxic shock. I was given some more shots and then sent to get a CAT Scan. Shortly after the scan I was told that I had at least 2 kidney stones that were blocking my uriter duct (the little tubey that connects the kidney's to the bladder) So I got a stent in my right kidney to drain my kidney into a bag until the block could be removed and so the massive infection that was in my right kidney would not pass into my bladder giving me a UTI.
Putting the stent in shocked my system and lowered my BP to below 40. I was then sent back to the emergency room where a pressurized IV was put into my shoulder to pump in my meds and fluids as quickly as possible. It was held in with stitches. I was on 3 different antibiotics, one blood pressure med, and an IV of fluids since I couldn't eat or drink anything. Then I was sent to the ICU for 3 days.
Lots of pain meds, lots of antibiotics, lots of sleeping and even more sleeping, and very little eating. In the 3 days I was in ICU I lost 10 pounds. I don't remember very much during those first few days, but i do remember that my friends were always there. My mom visited almost everyday. I couldn't have flowers in ICU but was told that lots were sent. After the ICU I was sent to the CCU for 2 days so that I could still have someone keep a close eye on me. I was still on blood pressure meds since my BP wouldn't stay above 80. After those 2 days I was finally sent to recovery for 2 more days and finally released.

During all that time I passed 3 kidney stones and recovered from a kidney infection which crossed over and caused a blood infection and then put me into toxic shock. It was a CRAZY week!!!

I was going to get pics of everyone that came to visit me in the hospital, but I wasn't very lucid most of the time...

Thanks to everyone that helped me out- mostly Nikki, Mom (Merry), Rachel, Seth, Nate, John, Lauren, Lindsay, Chris and all the nurses that took extra special care of me!!
