The Walk

So today was the Walk Now For Autism and it was great! I made a new friend in my Earth sciences lab class named Josh. He joined me early at the walk today and helped me help Rachel do some final touches to set up. We all hung out at the HOPE table and it was really great seeing the HOPE people again! Especially Ragna and her adorable prego belly!!! She is so totally the cutest prego mommy I have ever seen!! I love her!
After we were all talking for a while Rachel yelled at me something that I didn't understand... so I moved closer to her... she told me that it was time for the walk to start and I needed to lead HOPE group out of the gates.... I laughed! I don't even work for HOPE anymore (sadly) and here I am leading Team HOPE out of the gates. Which I did with Josh at my side, neither of us working for HOPE. Humorous....but great!
After the walk Josh and I went to Garcia's for lunch. Of course since it is Sunday there was football on...ugh. But Josh had the ability to be able to hold a conversation while watching football. It was nice. We both chatted about our families, friends and stupid ex's... it was great bonding time. ;) It is really nice to have a person to hang out with that is so open and honest. He saw my myspace page and asked me about Chloe. He was super respectful and supportive about her. Once again, really nice to meet someone that is genuine.

My Busy, Busy Life!!

So I figured that I needed to write a new blog since the last one was such a downer.... sorry all...

I started my english class last night. I am kinda excited about it even though I know it will be a whirlwind! It consists of three weeks, 5 hours per class (5-10pm) with 2 Saturday morning classes from 8-2. But, it means I will be one class (or three units) closer to my degree. Woohoo!! So far it seems that it will be the only interesting class that I have this semester- although when it is over my Marriage and Family Psych. class starts and I hope that will be entertaining at the least. So with those two classes I am also taking Economy 1, Political Sciences 1, and Earth Sciences Lab 10. Yes. That makes for 15 units, and one class every night until December 12th. So I work full time every day, go to school full time every night, volunteer at LDFS every other Friday, babysit a former client every Saturday and Sunday evening, go to church every-ish Sunday, which leaves me with Sunday mornings to have to myself. I am especially thankful for naps everyday so that I have time to do homework... otherwise I would be totally screwed.

But keeping myself busy definately keeps me sane. And I have met some pretty great people in class and made some good friends. One of the guys in earth sciences licked a rock for me to tell me if it was salty... It was good times.

I also recently made contact with former family members and am trying to set up a dinner date with them. I am stoked to talk to them and see how their lif has been going. It really makes me realize how lucky I am that I don't have kids to put through this divorce too. I hope that we are able to set something up and have a good time talking. I was going to invite them over for a bbq, but I am not sure how they would feel not being in neutral grounds...so we will just got out and eat somewhere. Now I just have to find the time. lol.

RIP Phone....

So...last friday I went to a warm beach for the first time ever. It was AMAZING!!! The sky was grey, there was a slight breeze, the waves were awesome and the sand was HOT! I am still astounded that the sand was so warm when the day was so cool... I know, silly Sacramento girl....

So the highlights of the beach....I got to touch the top of a jelly fish (which I learned is ok to do from Finding Nemo- thank you Dori and Marlin!) I also go to see the underside of a jelly fish (using a stick of course because Dori says to never touch the bottom!!!). It was really cool to explore the jelly fish (which be way was dead) and look at it's lungs work as we poked and prodded the top.

After the jelly fish I stood on the shore and watched dolphins jump out of the ocean and play. It was beautiful! I wish that I could have gone out and swam (swimmed?, swum?, hmmm... gone swimming!) with them. After watching them for about 20 minutes I went critter hunting with Nikki and Rob. We were going to climb the rocks, but after careful review of the upcoming activities (the wedding) and the importance of arriving in one piece without special accessories (wheelchairs or casts) we decided that it would be best to remain firmly planted on or near the ground.

After looking around Rob brings over a crab. It was SOOO cute!!! I just wanted to cuddle it but have heard that they are not the most cuddly of animals so I wisely resisted. I took lots of pictures of it with my cell phone :( I remember watching animal planet and watching the crabs move sideways but seeing it in real life was also just incredible! (and once again- adorable!!! God needs to create some fuzzy crabs that like to be snuggled!) After my short photo shoot we got out of the way and let the crab scuttle (eeee! I LOVE that word!) back into the rocks.

Shortly after that we stumbled (almost literally) onto a huge turtle sculpted from sand. Once again I took many pictures of the turtle with my phone. *sniff* It was really cute and there were even sea shells for toe nails.

Then.....Nikki went to find me a sea anenome to touch because she said that it is simply awesome!! Well, she found two. I followed her to the other end of the beach and climbed over the rocks and lo and behold! Anenomes!! WOOHOO!!! So I pet the first one. It felt like a whole bunch of little suction cups on the tip of my finger. Then she showed me a larger one. It was big enough for my whole finger. So both of us bent down to pet it and while we weren't looking a HUGE (ok- what seemed to be huge) wave splashed us both! My phone was drenched and immediately started freaking out. It started to vibrate non-stop and making a high pitch whine... so I took out the battery before it decided to explode.

After 2 days of drying out it still wouldn't turn on and it was time to get a new phone. So I borrowed my roomie's phone (thanks Nikki! You rock!) until I could make it to T-Mobile and now I have my new phone. It is a sidekick. I have wanted one for quite a while and am so happy that I finally have one! It is just as much fun as I hoped it would be! The biggest draw back of all of it is that I lost all of the pictures that I took and all the phone numbers that I hadn't written down yet. SO.....if you don't hear from me for a while then you should send me your number cuz I probably don't have it anymore. ;)

Weddings Again!!!

WOOHOO!!!! The wedding is over!!!

It was a beautiful wedding. The ceremony was perfect. The reception was a blast. The bride was amazing. The groom was a little wanting....J/K! Now that it is done it is time to get back to real life. But first I will give you an update about the weekend.

We drove down to SLO on thursday morning and due to the company in the car the ride seemed to speed by! Upon arrival in SLO we picked up the tuxs and luckily tried them on first (and by we I mean Chris, Seth and Brian). Chris' tux had a chalk square on the back with a tear right in the middle of the coat.... that would have sucked walking down the aisle. Seth's shoes had a gianormous yellow scuff on the toe. I think that Brian's tux was the only one that didn't have a problem. They all looked so handsome that we took some pics of them trying their suits on.

So, after we fixed the tux situation we were off to the beach houses that Rachel rented. They were fabulous!! There were balconies and a hot tub, and a 20 minute drive from the beach. It was really nice! I got my own bed every night and made some really great friends. I am just going to post some pictures of us at the beach house and the girls at the beach....there is just too much to talk about on one blog and too many pictures to post....
