So...last friday I went to a warm beach for the first time ever. It was AMAZING!!! The sky was grey, there was a slight breeze, the waves were awesome and the sand was HOT! I am still astounded that the sand was so warm when the day was so cool... I know, silly Sacramento girl....
So the highlights of the beach....I got to touch the top of a jelly fish (which I learned is ok to do from Finding Nemo- thank you Dori and Marlin!) I also go to see the underside of a jelly fish (using a stick of course because Dori says to never touch the bottom!!!). It was really cool to explore the jelly fish (which be way was dead) and look at it's lungs work as we poked and prodded the top.
After the jelly fish I stood on the shore and watched dolphins jump out of the ocean and play. It was beautiful! I wish that I could have gone out and swam (swimmed?, swum?, hmmm... gone swimming!) with them. After watching them for about 20 minutes I went critter hunting with Nikki and Rob. We were going to climb the rocks, but after careful review of the upcoming activities (the wedding) and the importance of arriving in one piece without special accessories (wheelchairs or casts) we decided that it would be best to remain firmly planted on or near the ground.
After looking around Rob brings over a crab. It was SOOO cute!!! I just wanted to cuddle it but have heard that they are not the most cuddly of animals so I wisely resisted. I took lots of pictures of it with my cell phone :( I remember watching animal planet and watching the crabs move sideways but seeing it in real life was also just incredible! (and once again- adorable!!! God needs to create some fuzzy crabs that like to be snuggled!) After my short photo shoot we got out of the way and let the crab scuttle (eeee! I LOVE that word!) back into the rocks.
Shortly after that we stumbled (almost literally) onto a huge turtle sculpted from sand. Once again I took many pictures of the turtle with my phone. *sniff* It was really cute and there were even sea shells for toe nails.
Then.....Nikki went to find me a sea anenome to touch because she said that it is simply awesome!! Well, she found two. I followed her to the other end of the beach and climbed over the rocks and lo and behold! Anenomes!! WOOHOO!!! So I pet the first one. It felt like a whole bunch of little suction cups on the tip of my finger. Then she showed me a larger one. It was big enough for my whole finger. So both of us bent down to pet it and while we weren't looking a HUGE (ok- what seemed to be huge) wave splashed us both! My phone was drenched and immediately started freaking out. It started to vibrate non-stop and making a high pitch whine... so I took out the battery before it decided to explode.
After 2 days of drying out it still wouldn't turn on and it was time to get a new phone. So I borrowed my roomie's phone (thanks Nikki! You rock!) until I could make it to T-Mobile and now I have my new phone. It is a sidekick. I have wanted one for quite a while and am so happy that I finally have one! It is just as much fun as I hoped it would be! The biggest draw back of all of it is that I lost all of the pictures that I took and all the phone numbers that I hadn't written down yet. SO.....if you don't hear from me for a while then you should send me your number cuz I probably don't have it anymore. ;)
